Start where you are

Grow what you can

Hi There, and Welcome!

I’m so glad you found your way here. This blog is an extension of my journey into homesteading — a place where I share what I’ve learned, what I’m still figuring out, and what continues to inspire me every day.

I didn’t grow up on a farm or have acres of land to start with. Like many folks, I began with a tiny backyard in the suburbs and a deep desire to grow my own food and live a little closer to the rhythms of nature. My first raised bed garden was small, but the first snow peas I harvested felt like a huge victory. That simple joy sparked something in me — and I’ve been chasing it ever since.

Over the years, I’ve added ducks, chickens, and all kinds of experiments in the garden. I’ve learned how to compost, preserve food, raise animals, and even run a small incubator operation hatching and selling ducklings. Some projects have been wildly successful. Others... not so much. But every step has been part of the adventure.

This site is here to share that adventure with you — whether you’re just starting with a few pots of herbs on your balcony, or dreaming about a full-blown rural retreat. I believe homesteading is more about how you live than where you live. It's about self-reliance, creativity, and finding joy in simple things like gathering eggs, pulling weeds, or making dinner from your own harvest.

Here you’ll find how-to guides, personal stories, seasonal inspiration, and honest reflections on the ups and downs of building a more grounded, hands-on life.

Thanks for being here. I hope you’ll find encouragement, practical ideas, and maybe even a little spark to start your own homesteading journey — wherever you are.

Let’s grow something together.
